Process

Wire from a coil is fed in high speed, automated, "cold-headers" or "part formers." This equipment has the ability of transforming the wire into an intricately shaped part with tight and repetitive tolerances. Material flows during forming to form a multitude of diameters and shapes.

Visit National Machinery for more information on the process.

Advantages of Cold Headed Component Parts

  • Speed
  • Net / Near net shape to eliminate or reduce secondary operations
  • Consistency / dimensional accuracy
  • Quality / surface finish
  • Material savings & elimination of scrap
  • Improvement in mechanical properties, greater strength to weight ratio, unbroken grain flow
